Australia, a young nation and a loyal member of the British Empire willingly joined the the war in support of the ‘mother country’.
When Australian and New Zealand soldiers went into battle on the Gallipoli peninsula, Turkey on April 25th 1915, their enthusiasm and naivety was soon tested in the reality and the horror of the nine months of struggle known as the Gallipoli campaign.
The ANZAC tradition was born at this campaign. It is tradition that has endured and strengthened.
Do you know what actually happened in Gallipoli? Have you heard of Simpson and his Donkey?

That was cool. My uncle was in the war but was sent home because he had some sort of disease. I feel sorry for those who were killed.

I think what the ANZACS did was very brave and helped our australia get to where it is today. On the 25th of April i think that everyone should have a minutes silence to respect evryone who fought in the 1st world war.
