Below are the skills you have to be assessed on over this year. These skills can be shown in any subject which uses technology, not just ICT lessons.  How many of these are you going to be able to say you are competent in by the end of the year?

A.  INQUIRING WITH ICT

  1. Use a range of search methods and justify the best one for a given task.
  2. Use an online bibliography composer.
  3. Assess the relevance of an information source to a particular inquiry.
  4. Discuss the negative and positive consequences of choices made while playing an online learning game.
  5. Exchange feedback in response to evolving web content such as blogs.
  6. Use simulation tools to solve problems based on ‘real-world’ scenarios.

B.  CREATING WITH ICT

  1. Analyse how ICT tools were used to influence audience within a digital product.
  2. Use advanced features of software to create a digital product.
  3. Manage and edit original source materials such as photos and sound files with software.
  4. Create data representations following recognised conventions.
  5. Maintain consistency of style within a digital product.
  6. Seek and follow advice from intellectual property guidelines.

C.  COMMUNICATING WITH ICT

  1. Describe ethical and unethical use of specific communication tools.
  2. Understand what cyber crime is and describe the impact it has on society.
  3. Discuss issues relating to online identity eg it’s OK to assume an avatar identity in a game but not to deceive others with a fake identity.
  4. Collaborate to decide on, participate in, reflect on and share the outcomes of a suitable online exchange project.
  5. Describe some types of collaborative software (groupware) applications outlining when they are useful.
  6. Compare how materials are stored, created, distributed and shared with different devices.

D.  OPERATING ICT

  1. State and justify school rules about data and software downloads.
  2. Identify what many ICT acronyms stand for and what they mean.
  3. Discuss ergonomic design.
  4. Implement a logical system of organising personal files into folders and sub-folders.
  5. Differentiate between software types.
  6. Give a comprehensive account of a system’s components.
